OUR STORY
A tale of passion and renewal, where royal heritage and winemaking tradition intertwine. From Henri de Navarre’s passage to its growth across generations, each era has shaped this exceptional place. Today, as Latour-Monplaisir, it embodies the perfect harmony of history, terroir, and modernity.
A ROYAL LEGACY
In the heart of the Gironde, Château Latour-Monplaisir stands as a guardian of time, a testament to the eras and the people who shaped it. Within its walls lies a history marked by noble ambitions, an unwavering love for winemaking, and an invaluable connection to Henri de Navarre, the future of Henri IV, King of France and Navarre.
The château’s history dates back to the 16th century, a turbulent era when religious wars tore the kingdom apart. During this time, Henri de Navarre, a key figure in the Protestant resistance before ascending the throne, came to stay in the region. Legend has it that he took refuge at the château, then a strategic stronghold, before leading his battles for the crown. His royal presence bestowed a unique aura upon the estate that still lingers within its ancient stones today.

THREE CENTURIES OF EXPERTISE
Over the centuries, the estate flourished into a true winemaking gem. For generations, a devoted family honed their expertise, establishing the vineyard—then known as Château Latour—as a symbol of finesse and elegance. Despite their efforts, time eventually diminished the estate’s prosperity. It was not until the early 20th century that a visionary, driven by boundless ambition, revitalized the property. Through modernizing the facilities and restructuring the vineyard, he restored Château Latour’s prestige, securing its place among the region’s finest estates.
THE CHÂTEAU’S REVIVAL
Passed down to the next generation, the Château expanded to cover 100 hectares, including 30 hectares of vines, continuing to evolve with the times.

A NEW ERA FOR
THE ESTATE
A new chapter began in 2008 when the estate was acquired by an entrepreneur with a passion for exceptional terroirs. It was then renamed Château Latour-Monplaisir, paying tribute to its deep-rooted history and taking the name of its most prestigious and exclusive vineyard plot. Today, the estate strikes a delicate balance between heritage and modernity, preserving excellence while pioneering the next chapter.
From Henri IV to the present day, Château Latour-Monplaisir is more than just a winery—it is a living testament to Bordeaux’s heritage, where each generation has contributed to shaping the legacy of extraordinary wine.
